Name: Elree F. Canty
Role on the Project: As a Field Construction Manager, Elree oversees field inside and outside plant operations which include underground, aerial, and building entry construction statewide.
My Story: Elree Canty has a combined 13 years of utility experience in both natural gas and telecommunications working in project controls, project engineering, materials, and operations. His motivation is being a part of projects that help others in their daily lives.
“The most exciting part about my job is working alongside other brilliant men and women hammering out the details and providing a much needed service for the community to enjoy on a daily basis.”
Elree is married to his childhood sweetheart Tyson Canty and expecting their first child in November. His hobbies include reading, hiking, playing basketball, and going to the movies. For several years he has volunteered at local community colleges as a mentor to assist students in their transition from high school to college. He has aided in programs assisting at risk youth in directing them toward the right path. In 2011, he created a nonprofit in a nearby suburb of his hometown, Kansas City, MO, that serves the needs of abused families, feeds impoverished communities locally and abroad, and demonstrates other deeds of kindness.
Where I live: Since the beginning of the project Elree and his family have found residence in the Tates Creek area of Lexington, KY. Currently, he attends Immanuel Baptist Church and teaches a Sunday school class.
“There is so much to do, such as, the entertaining races, enjoying the beautiful green grass, catching an exciting UK basketball game, and southern hospitality. Any person would happy to call Kentucky home.”
Why I joined the DBLLC: Prior to joining the DBLLC Elree was concluding another major statewide fiber communication project. He was asked if he would be interested in the opportunity to build and improve internet service for Kentucky. The Kentucky Wire project will provide strong and reliable service for schools, local government buildings, libraries, hospitals, and more.
