Let us introduce you to our staff feature of the month! Gerald Long is the Field Engineer Manager for the Design-Build, LLC on the Kentucky Wired project. Learn a bit more about Gerald, his professional history and what personally motivates him:
Gerald was born in Harrodsburg, Kentucky but spent most of his life living in Lexington. He graduated from Lafayette High School, Central Kentucky Area Vocational School and attended the University of Kentucky. Gerald has worked in telecommunications since the early 1970’s, and before this project spent the last 20 years working for a telecommunications company that through merger & acquisition became Level 3 Communications. Gerald has been working on the Kentucky Wired project for a little over one year.
What motivates Gerald is a challenge. He loves the problem solving aspect of DBLLC projects, and new challenges that need to be resolved.
Gerald was interested in this project from the time that it was announced. It is the largest fiber optic project in Kentucky’s history, and Gerald is proud to be a part of it.
“The network that we are building will have a lasting effect on many of the small communities that it will serve. It will be a gateway for companies to locate in Kentucky. Internet access and connectivity is crucial in today’s business environment.”
